We We had a great time during the
2001 - 2002 Scouting Year

Boy ScoutsHere are some of the things we did:

Sunday, February 17th, 2002 - Monster Jam Truck Racing Show
A small group of us pulled together a last-minute outing to Nassau Coliseum to see Grave Digger, Spiderman and the rest batttle it out in this years' Monster Truck Show!  The highlight of the show was an all out battle in the Quads race featuring crashes, spills and a few dirty tricks by some of the riders.   Next year we'll try to enter a "soapbox derby car" into the Cub Scout race done during intermission.

Sunday, February 3rd, 2002 - Blue And Gold Dinner
This years' Blue and Gold dinner was a lot of fun for all.  Many of our scouts received achievements such as the Tigers getting their Tiger Cub Patches.  The whole pack was treated to the songs and entertainment of their fellow scouts and two brave(and crazy) groups of adults.  It was a great event with excellent food, fun entertainment and a well stocked Silent Auction fund raiser.  The auction featured tickets from your favorite local sports teams including the Mets, Yankees, Islanders, Ducks and some exceptional tickets to the Knicks and Rangers at Madison Square Garden.  There were many excited recipients in the crowd and we raised approximately $1,000.00; which will be used to pay for our rechartering fees and to supplement future events.  See pictures here

January 18th, 2002 Pack Night
January's Theme: Did You Get My Message?
The bears did the opening discussing five ways people have communicated throughout history.  We played charades.  All the boys were given cardboard trucks to assemble.  Popcorn patches were given out.  The Tigers did the closing about why it is important to LISTEN.

January 13th, 2002 - Bowling
We had a bowling party at Coram Lanes.   All the kids got to bowl two games and then we had pizza, soda, donuts and cookies!   See pictures here

December 29th, 2001 - Islanders Hockey Game
We headed off to Nassau Coliseum to see a great game where the Islanders beat the Canadians, 6 - 5, in overtime.  After the game lots of boys got to put on their skates and go out on the Coliseum ice.

December 21st, 2001 Pack Night
December's Theme: Works of Art
December's pack night is our chance to get together and celebrate the holiday season.   We were visited by Santa and had our annual holiday bake sale/auction for charity.   All the scouts and their family's enjoyed a feast of holiday cakes, cookies and drink.

November 16th, 2001 Pack Night
November's Theme: Hometown Heroes!
The scouts enjoyed a great opening by Wolf Den 5, lessons in Karate and a great matchbox car race.  They also received many hard-earned advancement.

October  27th, 2001 @ 7:00 PM - Spooky Walk
A bunch of scouts braved the low temperatures and long delays at this years' Yaphank Presbyterian Church spooky walk.   The walk was great fun for everybody that attended.

October 28th, 2001 @ 10:00 AM - Long Island Steamers Outing
The Tigers took part in their first Go-And-See-It adventure by visiting the Long Island Steamers at South Haven County Park.  They all made great engineers for the day!  See pictures here

October 27th and 28th, 2001 - Fall Camporee at Wildwood State Park
The Webelos had their first overnight camping trip this weekend at Wildwood.  Some of the Bears, Wolves and Tigers joined them on Saturday for a great day of fun and adventure.

October 20th, 2001 Halloween Daytrip @ Baiting Hollow Scout Camp
Many of Pack 244 Cub Scouts took part in a fun filled day at the Baiting Hollow Scout Camp.  Scouts and their parents went on a hay ride through the wooded camp, picked and decorated their own pumkins, and played Halloween games at several different stations; run by Boys Scouts who were dressed to scare and amuse the visitors.

October 19, 2001 - Pack Night
October's Theme: Down on the Farm!
We wrapped up our first month of scouting with our annual Halloween Costume Party.   All the kids wore great costumes and had a lot of fun playing all the games.  See picutes here

September 28, 2001 - Waldbaum's Popcorn Sale
The popcorn sale in front of Waldbaums was a great success.  We sold $505 and earned $205 for the pack.  Take home popcorn orders are due back at your last weekly den meeting in October.

September 21, 2001 - Pack Night
September's Theme: All Aboard!
We had a really nice season-opening pack night.  We have a great bunch of boys this year.  The Webelos told us all what they like the best about their years in scouting and gave the younger boys something to look forward to.  We then got to play "Seven Up!" and Pictionary.
