Here's what we did:
June 29-30, 2001 - American Cancer Society Relay For Life
The Relay For Life is a community-based event designed to celebrate
survivorship and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Pack 244 fielded a
team for this years' event held at the Rocky Point Jr./Sr.
High school. Each team had to keep at least one representative of
their team walking around the track at all times. We all took turns walking laps
from 6:30 pm until 9:00 am and raised over $800 for the American Cancer Society. See

June 24, 2001 (Sunday) - Atlantis Marine World Aquarium
We won this year's "Festival of Trees" Christmas tree decorating contest at the
Riverhead Aqaurium. Our prize was a free day at the aquarium including a pizza
lunch. We had a great time. See pictures here
June 16, 2001 - Riverhead Raceway
Thanks to race car driver Al Ermmarino (car 9A) and Ro DeCandia, we were invited out for an exciting night of car
racing at the Riverhead Raceway. The weather held out for a perfect evening and the
racing was great. See pictures here
April 28, 2001 - Cubs For Cubs
Cubs for Cubs was windy, windy and windy! Pack 244 had the best booth
again this year although the judges forgot to give us the first prize ribbon. See pictures here
April 20, 2001 - Pack Night (Pinewood Derby)
The Pinewood Derby was another great event this year. We had fantastic cars and tons
of excitement. See pictures here
March 25, 2001 - "Scouting For Food" Food Drive
The Benjamin Tallmadge District held their annual "Scouting for Food" drive and
Pack 244 scouts and families did their part in collecting and donating almost 30 bags of
food. The drop off center in Mt. Sinai was very busy receiving all the food from
this year's very successful drive. See pictures here
March 16, 2001 - Pack Night
The opening was done by the Tigers. We had our charter presentation, Elaine Gray
gave our Cubmaster, Kevin O'Connor a scouting mug as a thank you for his efforts with
"Friends of Scouting" and we were treated to a great closing skit by our new

February 18, 2001 - Monster Truck Show
We are going to see the monster trucks at Nassau Coloseum. Anyone who
paid for tickets should have them by now. See pictures

February 4, 2001 - Blue and Gold Dinner
This year's Blue and Gold Dinner was a huge success! We had great food,
a fun DJ, a funny magician and an exciting raffle with some really great prizes. See pictures here
January 19, 2001 - Pack Night
Our January Pack night was held at the Rocky
Point Fire Department. It wrapped up our month's theme, When I Grow Up.
It featured a presentation on fire safety by Mr. Gene Buchner, a video showing the
effects of a home fire and a tour of the big fire trucks used by these local heros. See pictures here
January 6, 2001 - NY Islanders Game
We went to the Nassau Coliseum so see the NY
Islanders take on the Pheonix Coyotes in a great game. It was Dime Hat Night so
everybody got a free Islanders hat to remember the trip. Unfortunately the Islanders
lost by a score of 2 to 1 (see game summary here)

December 15, 2000 - Pack Night
Our December pack night wrapped up our December theme, What Do You Do At
Holiday Time and featured our annual charity bake sale auction, a visit from Santa
Claus and a fun balloon popping relay race. See

December 13, 2000 - Christmas Caroling at Central Suffolk
Hospital
We spent a special night at the Central Suffolk Hospital Skilled Nursing
Facility singing our favorite Christmas songs to the residents. See pictures here
November 25, 2000 - Rocky Point Christmas Tree Lighting
We joined in with the other Rocky Point cub scout packs and sang Christmas
songs at the Rocky Point Christmas tree lighting. The boys all sang great then got a
candy cane from Santa Claus who arrived on a giant fire truck. See pictures here
November 22, 2000 - Christmas Tree Decorating at Atlantis
Marine World Aquarium
Many of the boys participated in making decorations and decorating a Christmas tree at the
Atlantis Aquarium as part of their first annual Festival of Trees. Visitors to the
aquarium voted on their favorite tree and... WE WON! Our tree received the most
votes and we won a free day at the aquarium with a pizza lunch! See pictures here
November 18, 2000 - Tiger Cub Holiday Food Drive
The Tiger Cubs collected food and donated it to St. Anthony's Church.

November 17, 2000 - Pack Night
November's Pack Night wrapped up this month's theme: Man's Best Friend /
Pets. It was also the night all the boys were awarded the badges, patches and
pins they earned this year. See pictures here
October 28, 2000 - Long Island Jamboree
Jonathan Burnes, Danny Lounsbury, Bobby DiCandia and Zac Myslinski went to
see what the GIANT Long Island Jamboree was like at Hecksher State Park. There were
tons of scouts, tents and games.
October 27, 2000 - Spooky Walk
A bunch of scouts and their families went on the Spooky Walk at the Yaphank
Prespeterian Church. It wasn't too spooky and everyone had a great time!
October 20, 2000 - Halloween Party Pack Night
We had our annual fun-filled Halloween Party at October's Pack Night. There were some great
costumes, fun games and delicious food!
September 16, 2000 - Hallock Beach Cleanup
On 9/16 Cub Scout Pack 244, family, siblings, friends and members of the
Long Island Adirondack Mountain Club volunteered for the Annual
Beach Cleanup at Hallock Beach. The event was sponsored by the American Littoral
Society. Daria Cwik was the Beach Captain and Linda Cathcart was the NSBPOA
representative (who provided snacks and drinks). Over 189 pounds of assorted trash was
collected. The most common articles found were related to food containers (plastic
baggies, drinking straws, plastic bottle tops, plastic drink containers, aluminum foil and
beer cans).
September 15, 2000 - Pack Night
Our first Pack Night of
the year was a lot of fun. We welcomed a bunch of new Tiger Cubs and a few new Wolf
scouts. We were visited by a Suffolk County C.O.P.E. Officer who discussed the
importance of bicycle safety. Remember, ALWAYS WEAR YOUR BIKE HELMET! Get
ready for a really great, fun-filled year of scouting.
